Creating a Space for Community Learning

Over the last few years, Green Shoots has been quietly transforming a historic space into a welcoming outdoor learning and wellbeing centre for the wider community.
What was once an underused area within the grounds is becoming a place where people can learn, connect, develop skills and spend time outdoors. The site already includes outdoor learning spaces, community gathering areas, practical skills facilities and dedicated spaces for schools, families, volunteers and community groups.
The transformation has only been possible because of the support of volunteers, funders, partner organisations and local people who have contributed their time, expertise and encouragement along the way.
With just a few months to go until our official launch festival, work continues across the site. Outdoor learning areas are taking shape, community spaces are being developed, and new opportunities are emerging every week as Green Shoots continues to grow.
There is still plenty to do.
Whether you can spare a few hours, help with practical tasks, share a skill or simply want to become part of the journey, we would love to hear from you. Green Shoots has been built through community effort, and the next stage of the project will be no different.
Green Shoots was created with a simple vision: to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to learn, grow and connect through nature, heritage and practical activity.
Today the site welcomes schools, early years groups, adult learners, volunteers, community organisations and local families, with new partnerships continuing to develop.
While the buildings, shelters and facilities are important, the real success of Green Shoots lies in the people who use them. Every volunteer, learner, visitor and supporter helps shape what Green Shoots becomes.
As Green Shoots continues to evolve with the launch festival and beyond, we look forward to welcoming more of our community to discover everything the Centre has to offer.
